Down on the Farm

Hiya ya'll!

We have a fabulous new challenge at Creative Card Crew for you this fortnight.  The theme is Down on the Farm and we are being sponsored by the generous Scrapping Center who will be giving one lucky random winner a $15 gift certificate to pick up some must have crafty things.

I came across this adorable image called Egg-stra Special at Saturated Canary and thought she'd be perfect for this challenge.  Papers are from Maja Designs Life In the Country pack.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the blackberries are from Live and Love Crafts.  I used a ticket by Tim Holtz and wrote "you are egg-stra special" on it.  Stuck on a hanger paper clip, also by Tim Holtz, for whatever reason came across my mind at the time LOL, but I thought it looked rather cute.

Hope you'll join us for the challenge this week!  Be sure to check out all the awesome inspiration from my teamies- such a wide variety that will be sure to get your farm creativity going.

Wishing everyone a fantastic week!

Butterflies at Stampin' for the Weekend

Hey everyone!

Hope you all have had a fantastic week.  It's been another busy one here.  Nick and Jordan left for Florida bright and early on Tuesday morning (don't you all just love getting up at 430 in the morning?), and I've been babysitting the 9- and 2- year olds all week.  Tomorrow is the last day... phew.

I'm popping in with my DT card for this fortnight's challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend.  We are being sponsored by one of my most fav digi artists- Krista at Saturated Canary, who so generously supplied us with images to work with.  The theme for this challenge is butterflies.

I made a card for my sister, who is expecting her first baby; she is actually due two days before I am.  We've just recently found out that she is having a girl!  Yay for girls!  I'm so excited for her.

The image is called Butterfly Baby.  The gorgeous papers are from Maja Design.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the butterfly and butterfly paperclip are by Prima, as is the zipper with the baby heart charm.  I was so thrilled to finally be able to use my new butterfly edge die by Joy! Crafts.  Just love it.

Copics used:
Pink:  RV10/21/13
Purple:  V01/12/04
Skin:  E00/000, R20
Hair:  E53/43/47, Y26

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend!

613 Avenue Create Challenge: use a school supply

Hey everyone!

I can't believe how fast this summer has flown by, and we are now down to the last lazy days of summer here.  I've enjoyed a few brief days with all my kids at home, but Jordan has been spending the weekend with her friend and then her and Nick are off to Florida to visit grandma for a week.  Two days later, it's back to school!  Wow, December and the new baby will be here before I know it.

This week at 613 Avenue Create, the optional twist is to use a school supply.  Our fantastic sponsor is Lacy Sunshine who has some of the most adorable digis- be sure to check them out if you haven't already!

I decided to make a back to school card for Jordan using Kenna Back to School.  She's a cutie for sure!

I've used papers from her American Girl paper stack along with some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and The Ribbon Girl.  The apples and white spray is from Live and Love Crafts.  For my school supply twist, I've used a flower paper clip by Maya Road as well as a page from her student planner with the day she goes back to school.

I tried something different with her eyes.  Will have to play around with it a bit I think.  But not too bad for the first attempt :)

Wishing everyone a great week ahead!

Hey everyone!

Popping in to share my DT card for Creative Card Crew's Banners/pennant challenge.  This week we are being sponsored by Stamp Fairy, who has some of the most absolutely adorable images!

Wishing you all a fantastic week!

Shape it up at Stampin' for the Weekend

Hi everyone!

Still working on getting my new craft area in order.  Can you believe I haven't even filled up my drawers or cabinets?  Such a great excuse to shop more LOL!

I hope this finds everyone doing well!  I can't believe it's Friday already- time sure flies.  And!  It's been two whole weeks since our last challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend!  The theme this fortnight is Shape It Up.  We want to see your cards in any shape EXCEPT square or rectangle.  Our fabulous sponsor is Rick St. Dennis.  You have two weeks to join in the fun- can't wait to see what everyone creates!

I chose to use Sandi... who I can't seem to find in his shop any longer, elsewise I'd link it up.  She just reminds me of Jordan playing dress up.  I used my Prismacolors to color her up, this is only the second time I've used them.  Going to have to play with them a lot more to get the hang of these, I think.  That reminds me though, I need to order some Gamsol (mental note inserted here).  The pink ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Pink roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts, while the white gardenia in the center I made from my Cheery Lynn Gardenia Strip die.  The Hello and Friend sentiment dies are also from Cheery Lynn, as is the Rose Leaves and the other foliage.

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

Last Cheery Lynn GDT post

Hey everyone!

Popping in with my last week as guest designer at my most fave die company, Cheery Lynn.  Hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying a warm, sunny weekend wherever you are!

I was right last week- my new dies arrived with plenty of time to play with for this week's post; super fast shipping.  I managed to come up with a card that is... well, on the different side I guess.  I'm not too sure how I ended up with it but I rather like it.  I hope you do too!

I used the new Gardenia Strip; however, instead of using the center pieces of the flower I added in a little bling and tucked it into two sets of the new Dainty Bows that I heat embossed with Shabby Green Fran-tage.  The lock was also heat embossed, except with Shabby White Fran-tage.  Notice the two buttons that are tied?  Just open it up :)

While playing around with the Horizon Square Boutique Stacker Frames, it hit me to make a flap with the new Cape Cod Doily underneath.  A little extra spot on the front of the card to use more of our favorite Cheery Lynn dies!  It does still open at the bottom like a regular card as well.  I think I may play around with the closure more on the next one.  If I had known this is what it would lead to I probably would have used ribbon tucked under the papers.

After some computer problems and then moving my craft room from the main floor of our house to the basement, I'm just about up and ready to get going again.  Still have some tweaking to do with my new craft area, hopefully it won't be much longer- I'm just itching to get in there and play in my new area!

Hope you all have a fabulous week!

Book/shadowbox card

Hey everyone!

Just popping in quickly to share another card I made as guest designer for Cheery Lynn.

Have you all been seeing all the gorgeous creations from the DT showcasing all the new dies.  They all did such a wonderful job with their projects, didn't they?  The new dies are all so lovely, I had such a hard time deciding which ones I wanted! I would not be surprised if they are here in time for me to play with by my post next week.  One thing I absolutely love about ordering directly from Cheery Lynn is how super fast my order ships.

This week while looking around for inspiration, I found some really pretty cards that I wanted to give a try.  I have seen them called book cards or shadowbox cards.  I also have a few border/edger dies that I haven't used yet which I thought would work perfectly for this type of project.  Here is my first go (lots of pictures):

This is the front of the card, the ribbon on the side is to tie the two covers closed.

This was taken from a different angle, to show the dimension of the flowers.

Here is a close up of the flowers.  I've used the Daisy Strip, Shasta Daisy Strip and Chrysanthemum Strip.  There is also some different foliage (list at bottom), a bark heart and some flower buds that my darling toddler brought to me to add in lol!

This is the inside of the card- the shadowbox portion.  As you can see, I've been playing around with bits and pieces again :)  The only problem I have with that is I tend to forget which dies I've used pieces from!  Doesn't the Felicity Doily look a bit like a lace sun?  So pretty.  I've also used another Daisy Strip, but this time I folded the petals in half lengthwise before shaping the rest of the way.

And lastly, here is a picture of the inside cover.  I chose this paper out of the bunch (Prima's Fairy Rhymes) because of the lined section which will give me a spot to write my sentiment/message once I decide what to use the card for.

So, after a fiasco of getting Miss Jordan to camp (going to the wrong place on the other side of the state, her getting carsick), she made it - albeit late- and had a great time!  Sadly, she was only home for a day and a half before she boarded a plane this morning to head off to Illinois to visit family for two weeks.  She'll be home for another week after that, and then will be heading off to Florida to visit Grandma and Grandpa for a week.  She's becoming quite the traveler!

That's it for me for a few days.  Sorry my posts and projects have slowed down again- hopefully after the kids wind down from all their summer activities, I'll be able to get more crafting time in again :)

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!
