Creative Card Crew challenge 35

Hey everyone!

Hope you are all having a great week so far!  Still a bit aways from the weekend, but I'm sure it will be here in no time.  To help pass the time, why not join us for another fantastic challenge over at Creative Card Crew?  Our theme this week is bling.  So, bring on the bling- we want to see it all!!  This fortnight we are being sponsored by the Scrapping Center, the randomly selected winner will receive a $15 voucher to spend in their store.

So much going on with this card.  Firstly, it was inspired by Joann's card which can be found here, along with the link for the tutorial on how to make it, and the flowers were inspired by Lori's flowers which can be found here.  I tell ya, these girls on Cheery Lynn's DT are just awesome.  I seriously get lost looking at all their fantastic creations.

All dies used on this card are from Cheery Lynn.  There's the Bird Cage and the Miniature Rose Strip.  From their new release is the Vertical Mesh Hearts, Chrysanthemum Strip (yellow flower), Shasta Daisy Strip (two purple flowers), the Ivy Corner Flourish, and the Ivy Strip.  There is a white feather tucked into the left side of the bird cage.  It is super fluffy, and despite how many times I sharpened the image, it still just looks like a blurry splotch.  Sorry about that- it really does look lovely in person.

I just love this design and it was so simple to make!  The die cuts used here are the Sweethearts Edger and Lace Corner Deco set A.  The paper I have used is from My Mind's Eye and the bird cage picture was a cut out from my DCWV stack.  Rhinestones were added to the corner dies, leaves and edgers- these, as well as the swirl, are by Recollections.

I really like the look of intertwining my foliage into my die cuts.  It just has a vintage-y romantic feel to it.  I heat embossed the bird cage with Shabby White Fran-tage by Stampendous.  The heart stick pins are from the Hobby House.

The Vertical Mesh Hearts was heat embossed with Shabby Blue Fran-tage.  There are also small scattered rhinestones here and there, as well as on the leaves.

I am enjoying these flower strip dies.  I used distress inks followed by a light layer of Stardust Stickles for some pretty glimmery shine.  I used Victorian Velvet on the two Shasta Daisies, Mustard Seed on the Chrysanthemum, Fired Brick on the two roses, and Old Paper on the foliage.  On the roses and foliage, I also spotted on some Gesso.  The glittery heart brads are by Pebbles.

The bird's chest and light pink portions of the rose were already glittered.  I added another layer of Stardust Stickles to those areas as well.  I swiped the edges of the sentiment panel in Tea Dye distress ink, but I left it blank as I am not sure what I am going to do with this card yet.  The Sweetheart's Edger was heat embossed with Shabby White Fran-tage, as were the corner dies seen above.

Thank you so very much for stopping by to see my bling card.  I do hope you like it, and will give this style a try!

Stampin' for the Weekend challenge #9

A very happy Friday to everyone!

I'm popping in to share my DT card for Stampin' for the Weekend's ninth challenge.  I do hope you will come play along with us this fortnight- the theme couldn't be easier!  Use dies and/or punches with your stamp.  Easy peasy!  For this challenge, we do not have a sponsor but that doesn't mean there isn't a fan-tabulous prize!  It's a surprise though... not even us DT girls know what it is.  It must be awesome, since it's such a hush, hush secret though!

I took advantage of having no sponsor image, and used one I've been wanting to use for a while now.  This is Grace by Sugar Nellie.  Isn't she just one of the sweetest?  I've used two of my new Cheery Lynn dies from their latest release, the Felicity Doily in the upper left corner and the Ivy Corner Flourish which I used as foliage for the roses.

The doily was heat embossed with Shabby Pink Fran-tage by Stampendous.  The wood "family" banner is from Prima.

The ivy strip was heat embossed with Shabby Green Fran-tage by Stampendous.  The large rose was made with one strip of each size (large, medium and miniature) while the two smaller roses were made with two strips of miniature.

My Copic colors were accidentally deleted, so I may be missing some off the list but I think these are correct:
Dress:  RV91/93/95
Coat:  R81/83/85
Blue:  BG10/11/13
Hair:  Y23/26/28

Fab n Funky Challenge

A very happy Wednesday to one and all!

I'm popping back in with my last post as GDT for Fab n Funky.  Man oh man, has this month just flown right on by!  Time seems to go faster the older you get lol!

This week's challenge theme is "love is many a splendid thing" and the fabulous sponsor is Floppy Latte.  So grab your hearts and flowers and come play along!

I originally had these papers from My Mind's Eye cut to join in Cheery Lynn's last challenge of Pretty in Purple; but I never finished past that, so I decided to use them for this card.  I'm not such a big fan of purple, but I really like these papers.  Flowers are once again from Wild Orchid Crafts, the foliage is from the center of Cheery Lynn's Japanese Garden Lace Oval.  The heart tucked in at the top is the smaller size from the Two of Hearts set, and the sentiment frame is from the Sentiment Frame #1 set.  Image panels are from Spellbinders Labels 1.  The image I chose to use is called Teddy with Heart.  He is just too cute.

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit today!  I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week!

613 Avenue Create Challenge

Happy Sunday to one and all! I hope your week has started off fabulously!

We have another fantastic challenge starting today over at 613 Avenue Create.  To celebrate Earth Day, we have a color scheme as the theme for this week's challenge.  Such lovely colors I think, but I'm not so sure I matched them perfectly as I had hoped.  Ah well, I guess that's more reason to buy more Copics and paper!  Not that I  need a reason, it's that I need a supportive reason to give to my hubby LOL!

This week we are once again being sponsored by the fabulous Rick St. Dennis.  In light of Earth Day, I chose to use Isabella Gardening for my image.

I know the angle is pretty funky.  I pictured it at night and had to find a way to reduce the glare from the flash. I used flowers from my Wild Orchid Crafts stash again.  And while arranging the flowers, I had a complete DUH! moment.  I have been seeing all these lovely cards with wire twingies and I kept thinking to myself, I have got to get some green wire to make them- they are so stinkin' cute!  Then it hit me... Duh!  I cut off the wire stem all the time!  So I grabbed my wire clippings and a small paint brush and ta da!  I have my own wire twingies without having to go to the store!  Why on Earth did I not think of that sooner?!?  Sadly I didn't have the energy to go digging through the trash I had just emptied earlier that day to rescue the others from the last few cards.  But hopefully I will have enough to keep me going.

I must apologize- I've been a bit preoccupied as of late and very distracted.  I didn't make note of the paper or the Copics I used, and have forgotten to take a closer picture of the image.  I've already donated the card to Jordan's school for their Earth Day celebration, so I am unable to quickly take more pictures.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing great and I hope you have a great week ahead of you!  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit.  I hope to be back soon!

Wags n Whiskers challenge #102

Happy, happy Friday everyone!

I hope this finds everyone doing exceptionally well and looking forward to a wonderful weekend ahead!  To kick start the weekend, we have a fantastic challenge starting over at Wags n Whiskers!  Following our theme of April Showers last challenge, we have May Flowers this time.  I'm sure everyone is looking forward to Spring, so bounce on over and show us what you've got!

For my DT card this fortnight, I chose Tiny Dancer.  I have been stalking Kit and Clowder and getting some gorgeous Copic color combinations that I just couldn't wait to try.  These two are my favorites so far, especially the green- I love green, and this is just such a pretty shade.  I wasn't being lazy this go-round, and had every intention of making my own flowers.  My toddler didn't agree and thought it a good idea to help mommy color the first picture I finished.  Having to redo the picture, I ran out of precious time to make my own flowers so used some of my stash from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The floral frame around portions of the image panel is Cheery Lynn's Manon's Wedding Garland.  The sentiment tag is Sentiment Frame #1 and the sentiment was cut from Mini Font.  The image panel was once again edged with Fran-tage from Stampendous.  This time in Shabby White, and this time I used a ruler so as not to get any on the image.  The image frame and sentiment frame were sponged in Victorian Velvet distress ink while the sentiment was sponged in Peeled Paint distress ink.

Fab n' Funky 1-2-3 Challenge

Hello everyone and happy middle-day!  Halfway to the weekend.  Yay!

To help get us over the mid-week bump, there is a new challenge over at Fab n' Funky.  This week the theme is 1-2-3:  one image, two designer papers and three different types of embellishments.  The sponsor for this challenge is Stampart by Kathryn at Whimsy Stamps

For my GDT card, I chose Katie.  She just looked so sweet and I really needed to practice my shading of ruffles (still think I need more practice LOL).  I was being lazy and did not make my own flowers for this card.  All flowers except the Calla Lilies are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The key I found at Walmart.  The doily is Cheery Lynn's Eastern Star.  The image panel was cut from Spellbinders Large Rectangles and matted on Large Scalloped Rectangles.  Both the image panel and doily were sponged with Embossing distress ink and sprinkled with Shabby Pink Fran-tage by Stampendous then heat embossed.  Still loving that stuff, haha!  I thought about doing the key- I may try that soon.

Creative Card Crew challenge #34

Good evening everyone!

Hope this finds everyone having had a great start to the week!  Despite another snow storm coming thru all day today through Wednesday, I have had a fantastic day!  Cheery Lynn released their new dies this morning and I was right on it throwing stuff into my online buggy as soon as they went live- they are great!  I've been sitting on some store credit I have with them, just waiting, which really is not an easy thing to do when it comes to their dies LOL.  A few hours later, I received my shipping notice- Boy, are they fast!  Now I have the hard part of waiting for them to get here.

Since our Spring weather is playing a tease with us coming and going, I had a great time making this card for our challenge over at Creative Card Crew.  Handmade Flowers is the theme for this challenge, and I love making my flowers.  Not to mention, what a great reminder that Spring will stop teasing us soon.  This fortnight we are being sponsored by Birdie Brown- the random winner will receive three digis of their choice.  How cool!  It will be hard to pick out of so many great images though.  Which by the way, Torico has also released some new stuff today and they are just fabbie!  Swing on over and check them out- there's freebies while you're there too.

For my card, I chose to use Look up at the sky.  She is just too cute sitting amongst the daisies.  The handmade daisies were made with Cheery Lynn's Daisy Strip die; the big one has all 6 layers while the two smaller ones flanking were made with the two smallest layers.  I have also used a partial piece of their Honeycomb Frame die behind the image.  The honeycomb was sponged in Tea Dye distress ink, sponged again with Distress embossing Ink, sprinkled with Shabby White Fran-tage and heat zapped.  I can't get enough of that Fran-tage!  It just fits any theme.

Copics used:
Outfit:  BV20/23/25/29, RV91/93/95/99
Shoes:  E35/39
Skin:  E0000/000/00, R20
Hair:  E11/13/15
Sky/clouds:  C00/2, BG000
Grass:  YG09, G16, and I don't remember which others

I have seen so many gorgeous cards with hidden tags in them, so I tried my hand at it.  If anyone has any good tutorials about this technique, I would greatly appreciate it!  Google failed me this time.  Not sure I did it correctly, as it just doesn't look right to me, not seeming to sit well in the card.  But here is a picture of the tag itself.

Same as above, more Tea Dye distress ink and Fran-tage.  I really need to remember to shop my stash more often.  I had forgotten I even had these cardstock cut-outs from K & Co.  Another freebie with a Christmas order I placed back in November.  There's some really neat ones in that pack, which hadn't even been opened until my toddler brought them to me while I was trying to figure out what to do with the tag.

Anyway, I'm running late yet again (story of my life).  Thanks so much for stopping by, and hope you have a fabulous few days before I am back again with my next card for the next challenge!

Big hugs,

- Jenn

Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge #8

Good morning lovely blogger friends and readers!

It's 3am my time (gosh, I love that song by Matchbox 20, don't you?) and it is Friday!!!  Just one more day before the weekend- woohoo!

I'm bouncing in to share my DT card for this fortnight's challenge over at Stampin' for the Weekend.  The theme for this challenge is friendship, and we are being sponsored by the one and only Saturated Canary.  Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!  Some absolutely adorable images can be found there.

I made this card for a friend who is going through a bit of a rough patch lately.  I am hoping it will cheer her up a bit.

Wowza.  All the folds and hair.  A Copic marker lover's dream.  A bit daunting for a beginner.  I won't tell you how many times I've had to reprint the image but my printer can likely print it without me even telling it to :) Butterfly Princess was such a beautiful and perfect image to practice, practice and practice some more.  Nothing like jumping right in head first!

All dies are from Cheery Lynn (any frequent readers have probably guessed by now who my favorite die company is).   Towards the bottom is the gorgeous Anastasia border that I used this time rather than lace.  It is quite a lovely die.  To give the butterfly from the Small Exotic Butterflies #2 a pretty place to rest, I used the bigger of the two hearts from the Two of Hearts set.  The corner embellishment is from the Lace Corner Deco E set.  And, the best for last- the flower.  I made the flower from two large pieces and three small pieces of the Judy's Bloom die, and using my quilling tool to curl the edges up.  Tighter curls the closer you get to the center.

Copics used:
Dress:  BG0000/01/02/05, BV000/00/01/02
Hair:  E43/50/53/57
Skin:  E0000/000/00, R05/20
Eyes:  YG05/09

The butterfly was heat embossed with Shabby Pink Fran-tage from Stampendous.  The heart in the background was sponged in Peacock Feathers distress ink.

Flower petals were sponged in Picked Raspberry distress ink, leaves in Peeled Paint distress ink and Anastasia Border in Peacock Feathers distress ink.

And one of the inside :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope you have an absolutely terrific weekend!

Fab n' Funky Challenge

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I am very excited to be a guest designer for Fab n' Funky challenges for the rest of April.  There are a lot of awesome challenges coming, so keep your eyes peeled!  Of course, I will happily post reminders for everyone to come join the fun along the way!  This week, the theme is Spring Colors and the sponsor is Kenny K.  This is the first time I've had the opportunity to play with his images, and let me tell you how much fun I had with this one!  I decided on Troublemaker, who is just so sweet and sassy.  Definitely fits the Fab n' Funky title I think!

The background paper is from My Mind's Eye, and the striped paper is by Prima.  The paper for the image panel I received as a sample and is called Autumn Hay Shimmer from The Paper Temptress, very pretty paper, may just need to get some.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The jewels... maybe they are called Moon Stones?  Not sure, but those I colored with a Copic to match the coloring and they are by Recollections.

Shabby Chic

Hello to everyone!

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend.  I have a card to share that I made for my mom's birthday.  It's my first attempt at the Shabby Chic style, which I truly adore.

I based my card on the sketch from this month's CLP challenge:

All dies except the image panel are from Cheery Lynn.  The roses were made from all three of the Rose Strips (miniature, medium and large), the butterflies are from the Mini Dimensional Butterflies set, foliage is from Judy's Blooms, Olive Branches and Wreath StripBird Cage and the Honeycomb frame on the right hand side.  Papers are from Prima's Divine 6x6 paper pad.  Lace is from Walmart.  The adorable image is called Cammy with Gifts from Pretty Little Stamps.  I know it's a bit hard to see, but there is tulle behind the image panel and under the bird cage.

Copics:
Skin:  E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20
Hair:  E11, E15, E18
Outfit:  BG10, BG11, BG13, V01, V04, V06
Boots:  E50, E53, E55, E57
Presents:  R0000, R02, R05, R08, BV0000, BV00, BV01, BV02, BG13
Shading:  C00, C1

I used Shabby Blue Fran-tage from Stampendous on the bird cage, and Shabby Pink on the butterfly.  I love the vintage metal look it gives, and although it doesn't show up in the pictures, it has a subtle sparkle as it is filled with a very fine gold glitter.  Aren't those gold flecks awesome?  Loving this Fran-tage!

The flowers were cut from Melissa Frances crepe paper that I picked up from Ellen Hutson's online shop.  It shapes so nicely making beautiful flowers- not that the Cheery Lynn flowers need help making them beautiful LOL.  For these flowers, I followed this tutorial on Cheery Lynn's blog, where you can find tutorials for so many beautiful flowers and even more inspiration.  The large pink rose used one strip each of the mini, medium and large rose die strips; the pieces were all sponged in Spun Sugar distress ink.  The bright pink/purple roses were made with one strip medium rose and two strips mini rose, and all these pieces were sponged in Picked Raspberry distress ink and heat embossed with the Shabby Pink Fran-tage.

I tucked a torn off corner of one the Prima papers behind the honeycomb frame.  All the paper distressing was done with Tea Dye distress ink and my D-Stress It tool by Imaginisce.

The Dew Drops are from Robyn's Nest.

Thanks so much for stopping by- hope you have enjoyed my first Shabby Chic card!  Have a wonderful week ahead :)

613 Avenue Create challenge #14

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date I'm late!

A late hello to everyone, and I'm so sorry I'm running late getting this posted!  It's been such a whirlwind these past few days.  Found out on Friday that hubby is being sent to Denmark for a minimum of 4 weeks, so we have just been hopping trying to get everything whipped together as fast as we can.  Wow!  Denmark.  I'm already planning on looking into Live and Love Crafts to have it sent to him so he can bring home a box full of goodies for me LOL

So, the reason I am here tonight is to spread some love to 613 Avenue Create and their challenge #14.  The theme this week is "Spring Fever" and we are being sponsored once again by the fabulous Rick St. Dennis, and.... we have a second sponsor as well- Limited Runs!

I chose to work with Joanie the Flower Child this time.  I think she's such a cutie!  I used some more of the water color look DP by American Crafts, and mounted them on basic purple cardstock to match the purple accents of the image.  The purple flower is Cheery Lynn's Large Rose strip while the two reddish ones are from the Miniature Rose strip.  I've added two silver dew drops to the image panel, and three clear ones to the upper right.  Those dew drops are pretty cool!

I think I went a bit too heavy with the "lipstick" but otherwise I think I'm pretty happy with the jeans.  I've not done jeans before.  I think next time I'll go with a medium wash rather than a light wash =]

Thanks so much for taking a peek!  Do come join us with your Spring Fever creations!  We love to see them, that's for sure!

Challenges:
2 Sisters - Anything goes (unlimited, 4/12/13)
Simon Says Stamp - Anything goes (unlimited, 4/7/13)
Ladybug Crafts - Spring (x3, 4/30/13)
